Glasgow Orchid Fair

To answer your questions:-

  1. First of all you do not need to put on a display so you are only looking at a selling area. The tables are 1830 x 70 and both the trade and visiting Societies are arranged around a circular glasshouse. I have not yet started a table plan but will do so in the near future. The orchid trade stands will be yourselves, Burnhams, Peter White and Trey Sanders. I will locate you next to Peter one side of the entrance and Burnhams and Trey on the other side. It will become clearer when I have the table plan. There will also be Carnivorous plants for sale from Scotland Carnivorous Plants and possibly Simply Control with their Greenhouse equipment. The Societies displaying apart from ourselves will be, the North of England OS, the North East of England OS, Hincklyey OS and the Hardy Orchid Society. In addition Helen Millner will also be coming up.
  2. As regards the tables you don’t need to take any with you, these will be supplied. The number is very much up to you. To give you an idea Burnhams usually have eight and Peter six but bear in mind they have been coming up for many years now. Last year I think Trey had three and when Writhlington came up in 2022 they had four. This is something we can work on.
  3. You can drive onto the site and park adjacent to the Glasshouse to unload, then you will have to park where directed by the Garden’s rangers. A guide to the parking arrangements will be issued  in the near future.
  4. Set-up is usually from 12:30 on the Friday (10th) although if you get here earlier it won’t really matter.
  5. A PDF and Jpeg advert are attached. You will see these refer the reader back to a dedicated page on our website to find more information about the participants etc. I will be doing more work on this shortly. Also attached is a QR code if you can find a way to use it. This takes you direct to the page on our website which can also be found here Orchid Fair 2024 – Scottish Orchid Society. The Gardens are preparing some flyers and as soon as I get them I’ll forward some on to you. In the meantime as an interim measure, attached is a PDF that can be printed.
  6. As regards publicity etc we will undertake most of this ourselves as we were let down last year. Katy Garven who is our Secretary is masterminding this and I have just seen a draft press release that is being sent to the Gardens for approval. Our aim is to generate as much publicity as we can to as wide an area as possible, After all this is the only orchid fair in Scotland and deserves wider publicity. Katy will also undertake our Facebook and other social media activity – she understands it better than I do and will probably be in touch with you about this.
  7. I have also enclosed a PDF that you could use when sending any orders north of the border. This is just an introduction to the Society, but its inclusion is very much up to you.
